This page contains pictures of Route 42, from Mount Pleasant loop in
Northwest to 13th & D Streets, Northeast. Most were taken on December
1, 1961, although some were taken earlier.
There were originally 54 pictures in this series, which cover the line
going from east to west. Three are missing.
This set of pictures is a wonderful change from the normal fan
pictures which were three-quarter views of the streetcars. As you can
see, these pictures are pretty useless for modeling the streetcars.
But they are facsinating as a document of a slice of Washington in
1961, documenting the whole trolley line, not just a few streetcars.
The images on this page have been extremely highly compressed for fast
